taj-japas tad-artha-bhāvanam

The repetition of and meditation upon that (om) leads to the realization of its meaning.

Īśvara is the absolute personification of What is, of pure Being – and om is īśvara. Om is also how we invoke īśvara.  The sūtra states that the practice of the repetition of om (japa), of chanting and meditating upon it, leads to the direct experience of īśvara – the full realization and experience of God.
