Then, the Seer is established in its own Self. 

Why practice Yoga? The third sūtra answers that question. We do it because when we allow the static, distortion, and mental debris created by our thoughts to settle, then our mind clarifies and we have an experience of ourself that is radically different. Instead of the limited character who is the buffeted protagonist of the noisy, ongoing story in our head, we know that we are Awareness. We are the Self, the Seer: unassailable, pure, and eternal. Knowing this is the goal of Yoga and the result of practice.
